🤍 Riverlyn 🤍 - Update 8 -

Good morning all,

This week they decided not to go forward with surgery at this time. We wish it was due to heart improvement but the consensus is that the risks outweigh the benefits at the moment. They want to give her time to grow and she seems to be coping with her condition well enough to pursue that. This means we are back to focusing on meeting milestones to see Riverlyn come home.

To be eligible for discharge she needs:

  • To be taking 50% of her daily intake by mouth (yesterday was 75%) ⏳

  • To complete a swallow study (which takes bottle proficiency - she did take 10ml by bottle today which is double what she's been able to do recently - this would happen as soon as early next week if she continues to make bottle progress) ⏳

  • See consistent weight gain (we are still sitting just below birth weight but she has been making teeny tiny gains over the past few days) ⏳

  • Be off all machinery (IV, feeding pump, etc) ✅

On the relational side - the medical team made a special allowance for us last week so Nathan finally got to meet Rivy! He may have been more interested in the snack I had for him but it was such a sweet moment to be in the same room together.

Rivy is starting to be even more expressive, give big smiles, and dabble with cooing 🤍
