Riverlyn’s Healing Journey - Update 3 -

Good evening family & friends,

Big news - we came home late yesterday! The team feels she's stable enough even though half the valve is still stuck. Thus, we are in a hold-steady and grow season of Rivy's healing, giving time for God to work.

Now that we’ve been in and out of the hospital a few times I can see that a pattern has formed for me. In all the celebration and gratitude for coming home, each time I’ve found myself back in the moment that sent us back into the hospital each time - this last one being very scary. In addition to that pattern what we’ve just been through and the state of her valve make her already delicate condition all the more fragile. It’s taking great intentionality and stewardship mentally and emotionally to stay present and keep perspective.

Rivy’s plan of care includes making sure her risk of clots interfering with the existing valve function is as minimal as possible. To accomplish this she is taking 3 blood thinners now instead of the one previously (now it’s a special compound, aspirin, and two daily injections). She’ll also be monitored more closely at home with a vitals machine and suction on standby. We will also have more nursing support which is so so needed with the increased level of monitoring she requires.

We are still having the big picture conversation about what her options are regarding intervention when it comes to that. We need wisdom and favor in this area big time!

As always prayers are appreciated - in fact, we are going to have a prayer call this coming Tuesday evening at 7:45 EST for all who’d be willing to join us. We could use the prayers, pictures, insights, wisdom, and encouragements from the body more than ever. 💫

Day/time: Tuesday, June 18th, 7:45-9:00pm EST
