Riverlyn <3 Update

It is with deep gratitude and refreshed sobriety that we share an update about Riverlyn. This month she passed the one-year mark from her first open heart surgery. Her second one (in late July of 2024) was a miracle in that we were able to give her a real chance. In that novel procedure, however, there were some trade-offs.

The challenges that have been underlying are getting progressively worse. In that, after many thoughtful conversations with Rivy’s cardio team (continuing to pursue Boston as the leading experts in conjunction) her next intervention will need to be another open-heart melody valve replacement. The positioning of her current melody is creating issues that need resolution for her to progress.

All that said, this determination has an open-ended timeline. In fact, we just got permission for air travel (we are blessed to be able to take the family to CA to celebrate one of our home health nurses who won a national award). Going forward it will be toeing the line between the risk of intervention and maintaining a functional baseline with her condition.

We will be communicating again soon-ish as we look to organize some prayer effort for Riverlyn.
